Good to know
How do the weekly batches work?
In November the fair runs every week. A new batch opens each Monday at 10:00 CET and stays on the floor until Sunday night: Week 1 runs 2–8 November, Week 2 runs 9–15 November, Week 3 runs 16–22 November and Week 4 runs 23–29 November. Each week has its own world to walk through.
Do I need a pass to enter?
Yes. BuchGothFair is fully virtual and the floor opens only with a pass. Authors, readers, publishers and press each receive their own pass code with their invitation. The link into the live fair, the Frost Gate, appears inside the pass holders’ area and unseals when the doors open on 2 November.
Is the fair in person?
No. Everything happens online: the booths, the readings, the trailer cinema, the Gratitude Feast and Awards Night. You can join from anywhere.
How are the ten awards chosen?
Every registered book is considered. The fair team chooses the winners, taking into account reader ratings and votes collected during the Author Tour. Each Sunday, that week’s Author Award nominees are announced. The ten winners are announced live on Sunday 29 November, the closing night of Week 4.
Which week should I choose?
Choose the week when you can be online for your live reading or Q&A. All four weeks run the same program and all four are considered for the awards. Week 4 is Thanksgiving week, with the Gratitude Feast on Thursday 26 November.
What's included in a booth?
A booth on the virtual floor for a full week, a fair poster, a slot in the trailer cinema, and a place in the live program if you'd like to read. Your outreach manager will confirm the exact package and price in writing before you pay.
When does registration close?
Each batch closes for registration the day before it opens: Week 1 on Sunday 1 November, Week 2 on Sunday 8 November, Week 3 on Sunday 15 November and Week 4 on Sunday 22 November.

Who we are
BuchGothFair is an independent online book fair hosted by BuchBoost. This policy explains what information this website handles when you visit it, register as a VIP Author or send us a message.
What we collect
- Details you send us. When you use the registration or contact form, we receive what you type: your name, email address, book title and language, chosen week, whether you want a live slot, and your message.
- Emails you write to us. If you email Felicia Bele or the developer, we receive your email address and whatever you include.
- Settings kept in your own browser. The site remembers a few things on your device only: your pass code, your bingo card, your gratitude jar, snowfall and sound settings, and your cookie choice. This stays in your browser and is not sent to us.
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking tools, and we do not sell or rent your information.
How we use it
We use what you send to handle your registration, place your book in the right week, reply to your questions and arrange contributions you offer. We will not add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.
Services we use
- Formspree receives and delivers form submissions to us by email. Their privacy policy applies to the data they process.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on this site. Loading them means your browser contacts Google’s servers, which receive your IP address.
- WhatsApp and your email app open only if you choose to share the fair with someone.
Cookies & browser storage
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. It uses your browser’s local storage for two kinds of settings, which you can change at any time in :
- Essential: your pass code and your cookie choice. These are needed for the fair entrance to work.
- Preferences: your bingo card, gratitude jar, snowfall and sound settings. If you switch these off, we clear them and stop saving them.
How long we keep it
Registration and contact messages are kept for as long as we need them to run the fair and answer you, and are deleted when they are no longer needed. Settings in your browser stay until you clear them or change your cookie settings.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information you have sent us, or to stop using it. Just write to us at the address below.
